Refresh

Note that the Refresh option is only visible if you are working with the DMT directly from the CAST AIC Portal - See CAST Delivery Manager Tool modes. Refresh is not required when working with the DMT via the CAST Management Studio because the information is taken directly from the Source Code Delivery Folder.

The Refresh action will transfer the contents of the CAST AIC Portal (i.e. the Source Code Delivery Folder) into the local CAST Delivery Manager Tool workspace - in other words a "download" action. This action will therefore "refresh" the contents of the CAST Delivery Manager Tool to ensure that you are working with the most up-to-date information.

Example

Take the following workflow example:

  • You (Delivery Manager "A") have been working on Version "1" of the Application and have delivered and closed the Version
  • Version "1" is then accepted, analyzed and a snapshot is generated
  • Delivery Manager "B" then creates a new Version "2" of the same Application in his own instance of the CAST Delivery Manager Tool. He adds some source code packages, delivers them (but does not Close the Version) and then informs you that you can now add your source code packages
  • By using the Refresh option, you can obtain Version "2" (and the source code packages added by Delivery Manager "B") directly from the CAST AIC Portal (i.e. the Source Code Delivery Folder). You can then add your own source code packages to Version "2".
Running the action

The Refresh action can be run from different locations and the location will determine what is included in the refresh process. The following table lists each location:

Location Toobar icon Behavior
Application page > Refresh Will refresh:
  • All Versions in current Application + All Source Code Packages in all Versions
Version page > Refresh Will refresh:
  • All Source Code Packages in current Version
Source Code Package page > Refresh Will refresh:
  • Current Source Code Package
Notes about the Refresh action
  • If an item exists only in the CAST AIC Portal (i.e. the Source Code Delivery Folder), it will be downloaded to the local CAST Delivery Manager Tool workspace
  • If an item exists in the CAST AIC Portal (i.e. the Source Code Delivery Folder) and in the local CAST Delivery Manager Tool workspace, the Refresh process gives the priority to the CAST AIC Portal (i.e. the Source Code Delivery Folder). This means that if an item is more recent in the CAST AIC Portal (i.e. the Source Code Delivery Folder), the local item will be considered as invalid and it will be overwritten.
  • When a source code package is transferred from the CAST AIC Portal (i.e. the Source Code Delivery Folder), the corresponding source code is NEVER downloaded
Permission denied?

If Delivery Manager rights for your user account have been withdrawn from the current Application you are using with the CAST Delivery Manager Tool, you may find that when running the Refresh action you will receive this error message. This means that you no longer have the right to deliver source code for the Application in question. Please contact your Administrator about this:
