CAST Delivery Manager Tool modes

The CAST Delivery Manager Tool functions in two modes:

  • As a standalone tool installed from the CAST AIC Portal
  • As an integrated tool accessed from the CAST Management Studio

The interface and some of the available options differ according to the mode that is in use. Where applicable, the help will indicate an option or screen that is not available in certain modes.

Below is a table that lists the primary use cases for each mode:

Mode Target user and use case
As a standalone tool installed from the CAST AIC Portal This mode is aimed at Delivery Managers. Each person that is designated as a Delivery Manager can access the CAST AIC Portal via a browser and download the CAST Delivery Manager Tool to their own workstation.

In this mode, the objective is:

  • to add a new version or work with an existing Version
  • to add a new source code package for each location of source code
  • to Package the packages to extract the source code
  • to check the results (in the Package Content tab)
  • to Deliver and Close the Version. This means that the Delivery Manager has finished and the CAST AI Administrator can start to work on this Version. After checking the results, the CAST AI Administrator can accept the delivery and start the implementation in the CAST Management Studio or he can reject the delivery if the delivery is incomplete.
As an integrated tool accessed from the CAST Management Studio This mode is aimed at CAST AI Administrators. In this mode, the objective is:
  • The CAST AI Administrator can use the CAST Delivery Manager Tool to validate the content of a Version delivered by the Delivery Managers
  • The CAST AI Administrator can use the CAST Delivery Manager Tool to deliver source code if there is no dedicated Delivery Manager.
