Deliver

Note that the Deliver option is found in the CAST Delivery Tool Manager regardless of which mode is in use, however, using and accessing the option differs according to the mode in use.

CAST AIC Portal mode

Deliver is an action that will transfer the contents of the local workspace (Versions and Packages) into the CAST AIC Portal (i.e. the Source Code Delivery Folder) - in other words an "upload" action. This action should only be run once you have used the Package action to package all the source code packages successfully and you have used the Package Content tab to examine your packages and ensure that the projects you require are indeed marked as "Selected".

Running the action

The Deliver action can be run from the Version page and Source Code Package page:

Toolbar option Behavior
All child source code packages (of the current Version) will be delivered. The following dialog box will be displayed when you click the option - click Finish to continue the deliver process:

Is the version complete with this delivery?

Setting this option to "Yes" will officially "close" the Version to further modification (i.e. the creation of additional source code packages or the editing of existing source code packages). You should only tick this if you are the only Delivery Manager working on the Version or if you are the last Delivery Manager to work on the Version.

See Close for more information.

Skipping the Delivery

If the Deliver action has already been run and the CAST Delivery Manager Tool detects that no changes have taken place in the CAST Delivery Manager Tool since this previous Deliver action, then the current Deliver action will not occur:

Delivery and changes detected

If the Deliver action has already been run and the CAST Delivery Manager Tool detects that changes have taken place in the CAST Delivery Manager Tool since this previous Deliver action, then the current Deliver action will be executed and new resources will be transferred to the CAST AIC Portal (i.e. the Source Code Delivery Folder), overwriting previous the deliver action.

Permission denied?

If Delivery Manager rights for your user account have been withdrawn from the current Application you are using with the CAST Delivery Manager Tool, you may find that when running the Deliver action you will receive this error message. This means that you no longer have the right to deliver source code for the Application in question. Please contact your Administrator about this:

CAST Management Studio mode

When working directly via the CAST Management Studio, the Deliver action flags the Version and Source Code Packages as "done" i.e "closed" to further modification (the creation of additional source code packages or the editing of existing source code packages).

The "upload" element of the Deliver option described above (when working via the CAST AIC Portal) is not required when working via the CAST Management Studio because the Package action will store the extracted source code directly in the Source Code Delivery Folder.

You can access the option using the option on the toolbar.
