Server Browser

The Server Browser displays information about the server you are connected to:

The left-hand pane displays a list of the various different types of schemas on the server you are connected to (note that Combined Installations include one Management, one Analysis, one Dashboard Service and optionally one Measurement Service schema). The right hand pane displays further information about an item selected in the left hand pane.

Combined Installations (Up-to-date)

Combined Installations that are currently up-to-date - i.e. an upgrade is not required.

Measurement Service schemas installed as part of a Combined Installation are listed separately under Measurement Services.

Combined Installations (Out-of-date) Combined Installations that are currently out-of-date - i.e. can be upgraded to the current release of CAST AIP.

Measurement Service schemas installed as part of a Combined Installation are listed separately under Measurement Services.

Measurement Services A list of Measurement Service schemas whether installed as part of a Combined Installation or as a standalone schema.
Unmanaged Services A list of "standalone" CAST AIP schemas (Management, Analysis and Dashboard Service schemas) installed on their own, i.e. not part of a Combined Installation.
Grouping of schemas/databases

Schemas and databases are grouped together where a Combined Installation has been executed. A Combined Installation is one where multiple CAST AIP schemas (one Management, one Analysis, one Dashboard Service and optionally one Measurement Service schema) are installed all at the same time:

CAST will group the Management Service, Database Service and Analysis Service schemas as shown above under the Combined Installations (Up-to-date) and Combined Installations (Out-of-date) nodes. Any Measurement Service schemas installed in a Combined Installation action will be listed separately under Measurement Service node. The purpose of the grouping is two fold:

  • To make it easier to identify schemas/databases that have been installed together
  • To allow CAST AIP Extensions to be managed more easily through the right click Manage Extensions menu:

Shortcut menus

A shortcut menu is available for each item (whether in the left-hand or right-hand pane). Not all options will always be available - this depends on the status of the database/schema you have selected:

Server node

Icon Shortcut Key Name Description
- Upgrade Installation Use this option to upgrade existing out-of-date CAST AIP schemas to the current release.
- Component Uninstall Use this option to uninstall:
  • an existing combined installation (i.e. a triplet of CAST AIP schemas) in one go
  •  any existing standalone CAST AIP schema individually
- Component Reinstall Use this option to reinstall existing up-to-date CAST AIP server-side components already installed on the selected CAST AIP schema.
Manage Extensions Use this option to Manage Extensions - i.e. to install/update/uninstall CAST AIP Extensions.
- - Load MetaModel From Disk This option enables you to import a validated language package for use with the CAST Universal Analyzer.

See Load MetaModel for more information.

- - Troubleshooting

Remove Locks

This option enables you to remove any database locks created by CAST AIP applications so that only one process can be carried out at any one time.

See Remove Locks for more information.

Heading Key

The following table displays a list of the available column headings in the right hand section of the Server Browser:
Heading Description
Database/Schema Name Displays the name of the CAST AIP schema.
Installed Product Displays the server-side components installed in the selected CAST AIP schema together with their version number. For example:
  • Knowledge/Local base for General Purpose (Version: 6.0.0.2)
Upgrade Status Displays the status of the installed components for the selected CAST AIP schema (will be blank if the selected CAST AIP schema does not contain any CAST server-side components).

For example:

  • Upgrades Available > the CAST AIP schema/combined installation can be upgraded to the current release of CAST AIP.
  • Not Supported (Newer) > the CAST AIP schema/combined installation was installed with a release of CAST Server Manager that is more recent than the current release of CAST Server Manager, therefore an upgrade is not supported.
  • Up To Date > the CAST AIP schema/combined installation is up-to-date, therefore an upgrade is not required.
  • Hot-Fix > a CAST Hot-Fix is available for this CAST AIP schema/combined installation.
