After logging into CAST Management Studio, selecting a connection profile, and connecting to CAST Management Studio, selecting a task which brings up a sub-window does not execute and CAST-MS does no work.

Step by Step Scenario

Below is the step-by-step scenario leading to the problem:

  • Start CAST Management Studio.
  • Select a Connection profile.
  • Connect properly to CAST-MS.
  • Execute a task that brings up a sub window such as a window to run a snapshot.
  • The window does not come up and CAST-MS hangs or seemingly does no action. 
Impact of the Problem

The impact of the problem on the analysis or the dashboard is: No further sub window actions can be done.

Action Plan

This problem seems specific to certain laptop models.  The problem has been seen on Dell Laptops.

To resolve the problem, do one of the following:

  1. Use an external mouse
  2. Double tap on the mousepad to click, if your laptop supports it 

  3. Run CAST-MS as administrator
    • Exit out of CAST-MS.
    •  Start up CAST-MS with the option "run as administrator" (you get this by right clicking on CAST-MS and then selecting 'Run as administrator') - see screenshot below for an example of how this looks.
