IMAGSYS-1253 | - | Fix the issue for Line numbers in source code (/n, /r) | 1.9.0 | Where multi-line comments exist in the code, lmaging System would not correctly interpret them, therefore code line numbers were incorrect in CAST Imaging. This is now fixed and source code display in CAST Imaging will now match the original source code file correctly. |
IMAGSYS-1323 | - | Source code can't be displayed due to file size | 1.9.0 | The fix implemented for this issue is to display only 500 lines above and below an object if the total number of lines of code exceeds 7000. |
IMAGSYS-1366 | 20983 | Links between the objects is missing in imaging due to object name mismatch between techtreecontainer.csv and is_obj.csv | 1.8.0, 1.9.0 | Links between objects were missing due to mismatch of names in techTreeContainer.csv and is_obj.csv. Issue is now handled in exporter and there is no mismatch of names in the two files. |
IMAGSYS-1382 | - | Bug in imaging exporter | 1.9.0 | Export failed when export folder does not exist - without explanation. An error is now displayed to explain the issue. |
IMAGSYS-1440 | 21489 | Source Code not showing up for objects of type 'Cobol Program Batch' | 1.10.0 | There was an issue with result of sourcecode API for objects of type 'Cobol Program Batch'. This issue is now resolved and the API returns the corresponding sourcecode for the object. |
IMAGSYS-1461 | - | Fix console error on transaction objects | 1.10.1 | The error which was displayed on the console for different types of transactions on objects is fixed. |
IMAGSYS-1480 | - | Incorrect Number of apps being shown during License Update | 1.10.1 | 'Unlimited' number of apps being shown in UI which is inconsistent with the license count. |
IMAGSYS-1517 | - | External APIs flagged as not display are still display | 1.10.1 | The APIs with a 0 flag as display into fwk_jee (table aaa_is_cfg_framework – column to_display). Since the dynamic tree is active those framework are still coming into the tech tree. |
IMAGSYS-1547 | 21925 | Deleted objects shown in imaging even though the objects are present in obj.csv and KB | 1.10.1 | Deleted objects from KB were shown in Imaging on an update of the application. This issue is now fixed and the deleted objects are not shown in Imaging. |
Updates
CAST Imaging now available for Linux
CAST Imaging can now be installed on Linux systems as a set of Docker containers. See CAST Imaging installation for Docker on Linux or Microsoft Windows and also Prerequisites for CAST Imaging for more information.
When running CAST Imaging on Linux operating systems:
- exporting/importing data using the Traditional two step approach (exporter.exe) is not supported on the host Linux system. Instead, you should use the Automation tool (etl-automation.exe), or if that is not possible you must install CAST Imaging on a Microsoft Windows operating system and run the tools from there.
- it is possible to run an import using the graphical interface built in to CAST Imaging itself, see Import the CSV data.
Microsoft Windows setup installer updates (clean installation)
The setup installer for a clean installation has been updated as follows:
- The existing step to choose a location for Neo4j data has been modified to allow users to also choose where CAST Imaging configuration files should be stored. In previous releases, these configuration files were stored by default in the %PROGRAMFILES% folder. The setup will suggest %APPDATA%\CAST\ImagingSystem but you are free to choose a different location:

- This new location in %APPDATA% for CAST Imaging configuration data will persist even after CAST Imaging is uninstalled and will be detected in subsequent installations and re-used.
Location of log files
All log files are now stored by default in the following location, instead of alongside each separate service:
%PROGRAMFILES%\CAST\ImagingSystem\logs
Sequential Layout
A new layout has been introduced in CAST Imaging. Now, In all levels of the Application, nodes are arranged sequentially by default, i.e all the User Interaction nodes at the top and Data Services nodes at the bottom. This has also improved the overall spacing among the different nodes across all the levels.

We also have provided an option for a sequential layout in the left hand panel - other layout options can also be selected:
Global Search
General improvements
Global search now comes with the capability of adding more nodes to the already existing Search view in successive searches without losing any existing nodes added to the view. Previously, the Search view was cleared for each new global search. If you need to clear the view you can click the Clear icon located in the top right corner of the Search view:
Existing nodes that have been added to the Search view can be removed by deselecting the nodes which will already be selected when the search is re-opened (by clicking the Search icon on the toolbar) and then clicking Visualize:
If you need to add more nodes, perform a new search and select the nodes you wish to see in the Search view:
Improved filtering options
Various improvements have been applied to the filtering of search results:
- It is now possible to search for objects and filter on the object type. A dropdown list containing all object types has been added. You can select multiple object types therefore filtering results on these:

- A filter switch has been added allowing you to choose whether to filter object types and tags using an AND (default setting) or OR operation. When set to AND, search results must match both the selected object type AND the selected tag:

- The total count of available objects based on search options is now visible at the top of the search panel:

Dynamic levels
The number of levels for the applications is now "dynamic" i.e an app can have any number of levels and it's not just restricted to only 5 (Level 5). The same behavior can be observed across the Application layer mode, Data Call Graph mode and Transactions modes. Below is the example of an app which has 7 levels in each of the three modes:
When upgrading an existing release of CAST Imaging to version ≥ 1.11.0 to benefit from this new feature, you will need to re-export the Application data (using the export tools bundled with ≥ 1.11.0) and import it into CAST Imaging updating the existing data. In some cases where, post upgrade, the Application is showing a different number of levels than in the previous release of CAST Imaging, CAST recommends that you delete the Application data before re-exporting the Application data (using the export tools bundled with ≥ 1.11.0) and importing it into CAST Imaging.
Architecture Model mode
A new Architecture model view has been implemented in CAST Imaging to display the Architecture Models implemented in the selected application if present. The view can be accessed by clicking Architecture Model in the top-left drop-down - the number in the option displays the number of Architecture Models present in the selected application:
A second dropdown is available with a list of available Architecture Models. We can select any model by clicking on it to view the layers of the model:
Each Architecture Model node shows the count of objects associated with it:
Drilldown on layers and links is possible. When drilling down on a link between two layers all the objects that are associated between the two layers will be displayed:
When drilling down on a specific layer all objects that are associated to that particular layer will be displayed:
When drilling down on a specific layer, all the objects belonging to other layers are grouped respectively by default. The grouped node can be expanded by double clicking on that node to view all the objects belonging to the expanded layer.
To view Architecture Models in the latest version of CAST Imaging you will need to re-export the Application data (using the export tools bundled with ≥ 1.11.0) and import it into CAST Imaging updating the existing data. If any Architecture Models exist in the Application, they will be available after the update.
Expand All / Collapse All icons
New options available in the bottom right corner:
- expand all (ungroup) all nodes in one go
- collapse all (regroup) all nodes in one go (only displayed once the Expand All option has been selected).
Visible only in Level 5 views when using the vignette, or in other views in where the vignette is available (Architecture model mode, Module view mode etc.):
Other improvements
- Bundle size has been reduced to improve application load time.
- Graph library update for front-end.
