Associating objects to Functional Domains

When you first place an object in the Graphical View it will not be associated to any Functional Domains.

To associate it to a Functional Domain you have just created:

  1. Right click the object(s) you want to assign in the Technical Browser or in the Graphical View.
  2. Select Send to  > Domain in the shortcut menu
  3. The Domain Manager will then launch - select the domain and click OK.
  4. The object will then be automatically associated to the selected domain.

Notes

  • You can also use the Object >Send to > Domain option located on the toolbar.
  • You can also drag and drop an object into a domain to associate it.
  • When a domain has a check mark next to it in the Domain window, this indicates that the domain is active (in other words in the Technical Browser and the Graphical View, the object's name will be marked in to indicate that the object is assigned to a domain). Clearing this check box will cause the names of any objects associated to the domain to revert to the standard color.

  • Associating an object to a Functional Domain will also cause any of the object's child objects to be automatically assigned to the same domain.
  • Some objects cannot be associated to Functional Domains. A non-exhaustive list of the objects that CAN be associated to a Functional Domain can be found below:
    • ASP, JSP: Page, Project, IIS application, Computer, Website
    • BO: File, Project
    • C++: Class, Project
    • Cobol: Program, Copybook, Project
    • COM: TypeLib
    • IMS: IMS Project, IMS PSB, IMS DB Definition, IMS File
    • Java: Class, Package, File, Applet, JDO, Project
    • JCL: File (dataset), Project
    • .NET: Windows Application, Windows Console, Classes library, Windows services, Windows control library, Web Application, Web Service, Web Control Library For each of these object types: Class (VB.NET and C#), Module (VB.NET), COM Class (VB.NET)
    • Oracle Forms: Module, Program
    • Oracle Report: Module
    • PB: PBL, Target, Workspace, Program
    • VB: Form, Module, Project
    • Server Objects: All server objects
