Problem Description

Using CSSBackup, the process fails with the error below :

[XMLtoDB] SQL Error: ERROR: character 0xe28099 of encoding “UTF8” has no equivalent in “LATIN1” (Severity 1, Msg# 1).

The wrong character number can change.

The error is due to a UTF8 Character entered as a comment of a violation that was marked for ‘Exclusion’.

Description

During a backup (using PGADMIN III or pg_dump) the following error occurs:

schema with OID xxxxxx does not exist

Step by Step scenario

Perform a backup of one database using PGADMIN or pg_dump
The “schema with OID xxxxxx does not exist” is raised and stop the Backup

Cause

The error is due to a corrupted database for example because of a network failure while inserting data in Cast Storage Service or when dropping a schema.

CSS Tools - Backup - Fatal Error - Postgres backup fails with an out of memory error

Description

When performing a cssbackup or postgres backup on a 32-bit machine, you may get a message for an out of memory error.

The error in the backup log will be something like this:

pg_dump: out of memory
