This page outlines the warning received while trying to view the Analysis Unit Content.
The warning received is as follows  “ needs to be analyzed before taking the snapshot”
This warning is received when you try to view the content of a Analysis Unit which has not been analyzed.

Even if the Analysis Unit has not been analyzed, this is also an inappropriate message.
Since you are just trying to view the content and not running a snapshot, so the message should not say “needs to be analyzed before taking a snapshot”.
This message can be misleading for end users.

Step by Step Scenario

  • Right Click on any Analysis Unit
  • View Analysis Unit content

Action Plan

The solution is to

  1. First run the analysis for that particular Analysis Unit.
  2. Then you can view its content.

As a best practice, it is better to run the Analysis at the Application level instead of the Analysis Unit level. Refer CMS Analysis Unit - Execute Tab - View Analysis Unit content - Analysis results of analysis units get dropped when set to false
