Description

This page provides the solution to a known problem of the Engineering Dashboard which causes the dashboard to stop working and prevents the user to work/access it. Following is the screenshot of the error that will explain the problem which is faced while accessing the dashboard:

This error does not come up after logging in, but occurs while working on the dashboard. After 2-5 minutes of working, this above error occurs and then does not allow the user to work on the dashboard.

Purpose (problem description)

This page is a troubleshooting guide for the below error on dashboard :

Apache Error 502: There is a problem with the page you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed. When the webserver(while acting as a gateway or proxy) contacted the upstream content server, it received an invalid response from the content server

One of the cases where we have com across this error is when compute call graph button is clicked -

Step by Step Scenario

Deploy the dashboard on one server - say for example server A.
Launch Dashboard from another server - say for example server B.
Enter credentials in login Page and click login.
Error HTTP Status 400 The requested resource is not available.
Observe the URL where the https request turns into an http request.

As indicated by the error message, there is no value on Technical Quality Index, so there is no object on which the technical index is computed.

CAST Engineering Dashboard - Views - Errors - Low Memory or Recovered Memory error messages

Problem Description

One of following errors is displayed in the dashboard page during the navigation

[WARNING]: [MEM] Low Memory: 24052448
[WARNING]: [MEM] Recovered Memory: 18348800
out of memory exception
Java.long.out of Memory

In some case, As a result, you may see a slow down in performance. The application server (Tomcat) is stopped also and needs to be restarted in order to continue using the dashboard.
The error(s) can be displayed in the end of the dashboard page. You can also get bank page with only error(s) displayed.
