Purpose
This page describes one of the behaviors of the HD with respect to evolution(period selected) and snapshot selection

Details
If you select any other version of the snapshot other than the latest one then you will see that the period start date is incorrect on the tiles as shown below :
One might expect that the period start date should be December 2012 since the selected version of snapshot is dated December 2013. However, this is not a bug but expected behavior. The selected snapshot has nothing to do with the selected period. The 12 months is only with respect to the most recent snapshot. Since the most recent snapshot was taken in March 2014 the period start date is also from March 2013.
