Installation requirements

AIP Core is delivered in a ZIP file. Make sure you have the required ZIP file ready and unzipped to a folder on the AIP Node (it cannot be run from a network location).

AIP Core needs to be installed on all AIP Nodes (i.e. dedicated servers) that will be managed by AIP Console. The installation process consists of running a setup installer on the target server.

CAST highly recommends the use of PostgreSQL on a Linux instance as this consistently gives the best performance.

AIP Console requires one or multiple PostgreSQL instances (see Deployment considerations for more information about recommended deployment architecture) on dedicated Windows or Linux servers. The installation process for each is provided below.

CAST Storage Service on Windows

Before beginning the installation process, please ensure that you have carried out all of the following tasks and that the following requirements have been met:

CAST Extend local server/Offline is only required if (due to security concerns for example) your organization/AIP Console cannot interact over the public internet with CAST’s Extend system for Extension management. CAST currently offers two separate but similar “offline” packages that can be installed:

CAST Extend local server

Installed on-premises.
Can be configured in offline or online mode:
- When in offline mode, functionality is the same as CAST Extend Offline and extensions must be added manually to CAST Extend Proxy.
- When in online mode, CAST Extend Proxy is configured to connect with CAST's Extend system for Extension management over the public internet.
AIP Console connects directly to fetch required extensions.
Configured in AIP Console in the start-up wizard.
