Advanced rescan - add a new version and deliver source code

To perform this step, your AIP Console login must have the Application Owner role at a minimum.

Introduction

When you want to perform an Advanced rescan, this means that you would like to be able to control the required steps and make changes to the configuration that was used in the previous version analysis/snapshot.

Run analysis should be disabled

In an advanced rescan scenario, we do not want to run an analysis or generate a snapshot as part of the new version creation process, therefore we must ensure that the Run analysis option is disabled (this also hides the Take a snapshot option) when uploading the source code (this option can be enabled in a Standard rescan scenario where you simply want results quickly) - this option is explained fully below:

Advanced rescan - validate and accept the version

Introduction

The AIP Super Operator is responsible for validating the source code delivered before accepting the version and proceeding with the configuration and execution of the analysis.

avoid time consuming rework and delay due to incomplete delivery
improve accuracy of analysis
ensure consistency with analysis scope (application boundary)

Typically issues at this stage are due to missing files and other deficiencies that result in an incomplete source code delivery. Resolution includes either a request for the missing component or the decision (wherever possible) to proceed with a redefined analysis boundary that excludes the undelivered components.

Advanced rescan - review analysis configuration and execution

The AIP Super Operator is responsible for reviewing the existing analysis configuration before running the analysis. In a rescan scenario, it may not be necessary to review the configuration, particularly if you are only delivering updated source code and no new technologies. If you need to review the configuration before running the analysis/snapshot, please follow the steps listed in Advanced onboarding - review analysis configuration and execution:

Review technology specific settings as well as Analysis Units
Review dependency configuration
Review module configuration

Advanced rescan - analysis - snapshot generation and validation

Introduction

In an Advanced rescan scenario, you now have two choices depending on the source code that you delivered in the new version of your Application:

If the new Version contains only updated source code and no new technologies, and/or you made no significant changes to the analysis configuration settings, you can proceed with a snapshot and an analysis, together with an upload of the data into the Measurement schema for use with the Health Dashboard.
If the new Version contains new technologies, and/or you made changes to the analysis configuration settings, it is more prudent to run an analysis and validate these results before you generate a snapshot and upload the data into the Measurement schema.
