Summary: This section describes specific configuration options and best practices for one single instance of the Health Dashboard when you want to upload a large number of Applications (200+).

Introduction

The Health Dashboard (HD) is currently supported and tested for a use case of 200 applications maximum (see Standalone Health Dashboard deployment). For customers that have more than 200 applications to consolidate into the dashboard, this is page describes various good practices and configuration options that could help to reduce the risk of performance issues.

Health Dashboard tile management

Info

Summary: This page explains how to configure the Health Dashboard tile interface

Introduction

The Health Dashboard has a “tile” or “panel” based interface that provides access to the data:

These tiles have default presentation settings, but this can be modified and tailored to your requirements. For example:

Tile colours can be changed

Tile positions can be changed

Tile contents can be changed

Tile size can be changed

New tiles can be added

Editing your tiles presentation

The default tile presentation is defined in the files listed below. To modify the presentation, edit the .json file with a text editor (Notepad or other similar application). CAST recommends:

Health Dashboard tag and category management

Info

Summary: This page provides instructions for configuring tags and categories for filtering data in the Health Dashboard.

When your Health Dashboard contains multiple Applications, It is possible to “group” these Applications using Categories and Tags. These Categories and Tags can then be used to “filter” your dashboard display - i.e. you can choose to only see results from Applications that have certain Tags and Categories assigned to them. Tags and Categories work best in situations where you have multiple Applications consolidated in your dashboard and you want to filter them using your own terms.

Health Dashboard json configuration options

Info

Summary: This page explains how to configure various advanced options that affect the entire Health Dashboard (i.e, they are valid regardless of whether your dashboard contains one or multiple Applications). Note that this page does not deal with Tiles (see Health Dashboard tile management) nor Categories/Tags (see Health Dashboard tag and category management).

Above and beyond the configuration possibilities that are available for Tiles and Categories/Tags, there are additional advanced configuration options as listed below:

Configuring export of AEP and EFP data from Health Dashboard to Microsoft Excel or CSV using a standalone Health Dashboard

Info

Summary: Instructions for configuring your standalone Health Dashboard to allow export of a detailed breakdown of the AEP/EFP automated function point (AFP) data to Excel/CSV. Note that this configuration change is ONLY applicable when using the standalone Health war file (see Standalone Health Dashboard deployment) - when using the combined Health/Engineering war file, the export to Microsoft Excel/CSV icons are visible out of the box.

Introduction

The export to Microsoft Excel/CSV icons (as shown below) are NOT active (they are greyed out) by default in an “out of the box” Health Dashboard setup when using the standalone Health war file (see Standalone Health Dashboard deployment). This is because the information resides in the Dashboard schema (central) and not the Measure schema used by the Health Dashboard. In a combined Health and Engineering Dashboard, the dashboard schema is referenced in the connection property files for the dashboard, so the Health Dashboard already knows where the information is located. To enable these export icons in a standalone Health war file, a configuration change must be made to the Health Dashboard to inform the dashboard where the information is located. This page explains how to make this change.

Removing the Technical Debt - OMG tile and related data

Introduction

A Technical Debt - OMG tile is displayed, at both single and multi Application level:

Data displayed in the above tile relies on the presence of the OMG Technical Debt extension, therefore if you have not installed the extension the tile will show “N/A”. This page explains how to remove this tile from the single-application level and its associated drill-down data if it is not required.
