Add Users to the Analysis Service via a script

Note User Management does not apply in a CAST Storage Service environment.

In order to use the Analysis Service, users must first be registered. On completion of the server-side component installation process, the user that installs the Analysis Service will be automatically registered and assigned Administrator rights (all processes are allowed).

If you need to add additional users and assign them the Administrator right, you can do so using an SQL script that updates a specific table in the CAST Analysis Service.

The very first time you launch Server Manager, the application may ask you for an Identifier. This is simply a hostname that identifies your client machine to the server.

All you need to do is to enter an Identifier in the appropriate field which can be up to 10 characters long. You can use your existing client name if you want, or the last 10 digits of your IP address if this is more convenient.

In some circumstances, your organization may want to work with more than one Knowledge Base (Local). If this is the case, you may need to install the CAST server-side components to another database/schema on a different server during a session.

To do so:

Click File > Open Connection.
The Open Profile Connection dialog box will then be displayed.
Select a Connection Profile listed in the dialog box (or create a new one) and click Open.
Server Manager will attempt to connect to the server specified in the Connection Profile. If successful, the Server Browser will display any databases/schemas that already contain CAST server-side components.
If the connection fails for any reason, check the Log List for more information.
