Create a report on flagged and locked objects

This application enables you to run a specific one shot report to find out which objects stored in the Knowledge Base are either Flagged or Locked.

To do so:

Click Help then select Objects Information from the drop down menu
Select either Flagged Objects or Locked Objects as appropriate

According to your choice, a specific query is then run on the entire Knowledge Base. Any objects that fulfil either criteria will be returned by the server and displayed in a proprietary report:

Please note that this feature is a legacy feature and is maintained only for compatibility with previous CAST versions. CAST now provides the CAST Health and Engineering Dashboards to help enforce rules and standards in an organization. Please contact CAST for more information about this.

This page discusses a folder called “TPL HTML” and a file called “diagnostic.xml”, which are central to the creation of user defined diagnostics for use in the “Report with Diagnostic” wizard. However, these elements are no longer available when installing current versions of CAST. If you want to continue using the “Report with Diagnostic” feature, you will need to create the “TPL HTML” folder and re-use the “diagnostic.xml” file you were using with previous releases of CAST.

Generate Standard Documentation

CAST ships a specific template that enables you to generate Standard Documentation about objects stored in the Knowledge Base. This template can be generated with the following wizards:

What is Standard Documentation?

The Standard Documentation template provided by CAST generates full documentation for applications stored in your Knowledge Base. This includes called and calling objects for each object within the application.

The very first time you launch the application, you may be asked for an Identifier. This is simply a hostname that identifies your client machine to the server.

All you need to do is to enter an Identifier in the appropriate field which can be up to 10 characters long. You can use your existing client name if you want, or the last 10 digits of your IP address if this is more convenient.

In some circumstances, your organization may work with more than one Knowledge Base. If this is the case, you may need to connect to another Knowledge Base during a session.

To do so:

Click File > New.
The Open Profile Connection dialog box will then be displayed.
Select a Connection Profile listed in the dialog box (or create a new one) and click Open.
The application will attempt to connect to the server specified in the Connection Profile.
If the connection fails for any reason, check the Log List for more information.
