Once you have launched the Path Finder, you will be prompted to select the scope of your Path Finder operation and then the source and destination objects.

The results of an Path Finder operation will be displayed in the Graphical View. A new view will be opened with its own Object Browser (containing only those jobs (projects) defined in the Define scope dialog box.

Results are displayed in levels:

The first object (at the top of the Graphical View) is the source object.

The last object (at the bottom of the Graphical View) is the destination object.

All the paths between these two objects (whether via other objects) are then displayed in the Graphical View. In the example above, there are several paths from source to destination.

The Path Finder is dedicated to automating the design and construction of a Graphical View in one click.

The Path Finder can provide instant answers to the recurrent questions: “are these two objects directly or indirectly linked”, or “what links exist between these two objects?”

When completed, the Path Finder feature will automatically produce a Graphical View displaying all the possible paths from the selected source object to a destination object - this includes any paths between the source object’s child objects and the target object or its child objects.
