Creating Connection Profiles

In order to establish a connection with your Knowledge Base, you need to create a profile. This can be done with the Add/Edit Connection Profile dialog box.

To open this dialog box:

Click File > Connection located on the menu bar.
In the Existing Connections dialog box, click New.
In the Open Profile Connection dialog box click Add.

Creating a Profile

To create a profile:

Enter the required information in the appropriate fields
Click the Test button to verify that the connection to the server can be established
Click OK to save the Profile.

When you have entered all the required information, tested the connection and clicked OK, the Profile will be stored by the Enlighten - this means that the profile will only be available on the machine you are currently using. In addition, the Profile will be automatically displayed in the Open Profile Connection dialog box.

Editing Connection Profiles

When a Profile has been created, you may want to modify some of the connection parameters at a later date. To do so you need to view the Profile’s properties and then make any required alterations:

Click File > Connection located on the menu bar.
In the Existing Connections dialog box, click New.
In the Open Profile Connection dialog box select a Profile and click Edit.
Make the changes as required in the Add/Edit Connection Profile dialog box.
Click Test to verify that the application can establish a connection.
Click OK to save the parameters and close the dialog box.

The Profile will now be updated with the changes you made.

Open Profile Connection dialog box

This dialog box enables you to view a list of all the available (and valid) profiles stored on your PC. It can also be used to create new connection profiles.

To access it:

Click File > Connection located on the menu bar.
In the Existing Connections dialog box, click New.

All valid profiles that are currently stored on your PC will be displayed in this dialog box. For each profile various pieces of information are displayed:

Removing Connection Profiles

To remove a Profile from memory:

Click File > Connection located on the menu bar.
In the Existing Connections dialog box, click New.
In the Open Profile Connection dialog box select a Profile and click Remove.

The Profile will be deleted from the Open Profile Connection dialog box.

Notes

Please note that if you remove a Profile, it will no longer be available for connection and cannot be retrieved.

What are Connection Profiles?

Profiles are used in Enlighten to store server connection parameters. You can define any number of Profiles allowing you the flexibility to work with a wide range of Knowledge Bases stored on different servers.

Within a Profile you can define a server, a username and a password along with a number of other connection specific parameters. You can also give each Profile a unique name enabling you to easily identify the server you want to connect to.
