Call Hierarchy dialog box

This dialog box acts essentially as a filter for the type of objects that you want to take into account during the Call Hierarchy analysis process. You can also specify options for the analysis. Click a section in the image below for more information.

When you are satisfied with your configuration selections, click OK to begin the analysis. See Results for more information.

Defining scope and starting object

Once you have launched the Call Hierarchy feature, you will be prompted to select the scope (i.e. which objects will be included in the analysis process) and then the initial start object for the analysis process.

Define Scope

The Define Scope dialog box enables you to select the analyzed projects (jobs) - both client and server objects - that will be taken into account during the analysis process.

In addition, all selected projects will be added to the Technical Browser on completion of the analysis.

When the Call Hierarchy analysis process has completed, results are displayed in two stages:

An initial Preview dialog box is displayed, allowing you to preview called/calling objects and choose options for graphical view creation
Results are then displayed

What is the Call Hierarchy feature?

The Call Hierarchy feature enables you to view all the objects that would be affected when a hypothetical modification is carried out in or on a selected object. Results (depending on the options chosen) display all calling or called objects of the initial starting object.
