Blank Graphical View

The Blank Graphical View option is available in the Assistant. It opens a blank Graphical View with an associated Object Browser window enabling you to create a view from the objects displayed in the Technical Browser.

When this option is selected, the Initial Scope Selection dialog box will be launched:

This dialog box displays all the jobs (projects/analyses) that are currently stored in the Knowledge Base. Initially all items are selected and thus all jobs will be displayed in the Technical Browser.

Domain View

The Domain View option is available in the Assistant. It opens a blank Graphical View with an associated Object Browser window enabling you to create a view from the objects displayed in the Domain Browser.

If this is the first time you have used the Domain Browser, then no objects will be present. To view objects in the Domain Browser, you must first associate an object to a created Functional Domain.

Once objects are visible in the Domain Browser, you can create your Graphical View by placing objects as required.

Launching the Assistant

The Assistant is always displayed as part of the launch process, enabling you to select a particular function. You can also launch the assistant during a session (this maybe necessary because some of the functions can only be launched directly from the Assistant). To do so:

Click File > Run Assistant located on the menu bar
Or use the shortcut key: CTRL+SHIFT+W

What is the Assistant?

The Assistant is always launched during the launch process. It enables you to directly launch and open a variety of functions such as:

Blank Graphical View
Domain View (not in CAST Storage Service environments)
Call Hierarchy
Path Finder (not in CAST Storage Service environments)

The Assistant contains two tabs:


New	This tab consists of two sections. The left hand section contains a list of operations that can be carried out in the application, whilst the right hand section contains a brief description of what the operation entails. If this is the first time you have used the application, it may be a good idea to double click theBlank View option.
Existing tab	The Existing tab enables you to open Graphical Views that you have already saved. This tab is identical to the Open dialog box, explained in more detail here.
