Code Viewer window

The Code Viewer window displays the code of an object (or link) stored in your Knowledge Base. During an analysis, the path to the analyzed code is recorded in the Knowledge Base. This path is the path from the machine used to analyze the code to the actual source code. If this path matches the path from the local machine on which Enlighten is being used to the source code, then the source code of an object can be displayed in the Code Viewer window. If the path does not match, the source code cannot be displayed.

Domain window

The Domain window helps you manage your Functional Domains.

Functional Domains are entities stored in the Knowledge Base that enable you to group together objects of a similar functional use in one “domain”. For example, you may have several Java projects stored in the Knowledge Base. If, for example, you create a Functional Domain called “Java Classes” and associate all the Java classes from all the projects in the Knowledge Base you will then be able to see, at a glance, ALL the Java classes under the “Java Classes” domain.

Graphical View

The Graphical View is a window within this CAST application used to display objects, components and links that from part of a source code analysis. These objects and components are stored in the Knowledge Base and visually represented in the Technical Browser from which you can choose the objects you want to display.

When you first open the application and establish a connection to the server that is hosting your Knowledge Base, you can choose to open a Blank View in the Assistant. You will subsequently be prompted to select the jobs you want to display in the Technical Browser (this is to narrow your selection scope and avoid adding unnecessary projects/jobs). When you have chosen the projects/jobs you want to display in the Technical Browser, the Graphical View will be opened and is ready to accept objects and components for display.

Help window

The Help window provides basic contextual help for the main windows in the application, together with a basic search engine. This is in addition to the standard on-line Help you are now reading.

When you click in the various different windows, the Help window will automatically update and display a list of relevant help topics for that particular window. For example, if you click in the Graphical View, the Help window will update and links such as:

Layers window

Layers offer a practical way to adapt the level of detail displayed in your Graphical View without actually having to place objects into or delete them from the Graphical View.

Assigning an object or a link to a particular Layer enables you to view those objects or links by activating the Layer. Thus you could assign all your server-side objects to one Layer and all client-side objects to another. Activating the appropriate Layer will display those objects assigned to that Layer. Activating all the Layers will display all the objects and links.

Library window

The Library window helps you manage your Libraries (creating new Libraries and working with existing Libraries).

Notes

By default, the window will be displayed when you launch the application. To hide it click View > Library.
The window has other “docked” positions which can be used by moving the window until its outline changes shape and then releasing the mouse button, or you can double-click in the title bar to restore the “docked” position.
Double-click anywhere in the title bar - this will “undock” the window and you will then be able to move it as normal.
You can find out more detailed information about creating libraries and associating objects to them in the Notions section.
Libraries can be dragged and dropped into the Graphical View.
The and buttons in the window allow you to create and drop libraries respectively.
The and buttons in the window activate and deactivate all Libraries present in the window.

Property window

The Property window displays a wide range of information about a selected object, saved Graphical View (model) or Functional Domain in HTML format. For instance, you can find out how many lines of code make up the object (or a specific object in a Graphical View), or what Business Function has been assigned to the object.

To view the Properties of an object:

Select the object in the Graphical View.
Click Graphic > Properties > Properties.
Depending on the specification of your computer, the object’s properties will be displayed within a few seconds.
