List Format Editor

The List Format Editor dialog box enables you to define how objects are displayed in the User List, Search in Code List and the Search In Comment List.

Launching the dialog box

To launch the List Format Editor:

First make sure you are working in the User List, Search in Code List or the Search in Comment List, then right click anywhere in either to launch the shortcut menu
Select List Format...

ENL - Log Window

Log Window

The Log Window will launch automatically when you first start the application. This window logs any messages or error messages sent from the server or the application. This logging of messages can help localize a problem very quickly. CAST can also use the log file to diagnose serious errors.

How does it work?

Each time a warning or an error (i.e. from the server) is received a new message is displayed in the Log Window - in other words a new line will be created. For each message displayed in the list, information will be provided via a variety of different columns.

Report List

The Report List displays:

the results of a Join Links Report. A Join Links Report is only available for Oracle users.
the results of the Project differences feature.

Search In Code List

The Search in Code List tab displays the results of a search carried out with the Search in Code feature.

The Search in Comment List tab displays the results of a search carried out with the Search in BF/Comment feature.

User List

The User List enables you to store a list of objects. These objects might be particular in some way or you may work with them more often than others. Using the right-click shortcut menu you can then save the contents of the list or carry out various other operations, such as opening objects etc…

What is the Output window?

The Output window displays a variety of information. The window comprises a set of tabs, each providing separate pieces of information. Clicking a tab will display the required information:

Log Window - messages and errors returned by the server or by the application
User List - enables you to display and save a list of objects
Search In Code List - displays the results of a Search in Code operation
Search In Comment List - displays the result of a Search in Comment operation
Report - displays the Join Links Report (only for Oracle users) and the results of the Project differences feature.
