Using the Impact window

The Impact window displays the results of:

a Preview Linked Object operation > in the Linked Objects tab
a Call Hierarchy operation > in the Impact Analysis tab

Headings

The column headings are relatively self-explanatory:

Name > Object name
Type > Object type
Owner (Linked Objects tab only) > For server objects - indicates the object owner’s name
Link With (Linked Objects tab only) > Indicates the linked object (in most cases this will be the object selected as the starting object)
Ways (Linked Objects tab only) > Indicates the direction of the link (Calling or Called)
Link Type Summary > (Linked Objects tab only) > Indicates what type of link exists between the objects in the Name and Link With columns
Level (Impact tab only) > Indicates the object’s level. “0” indicates the starting object, “1” is an object that is directly linked to the starting object and level “2” and above indicate objects linked to other levels with a link back to the starting object
Project (Impact Tab only) > Indicates what project the object is part of

Expand Collapse feature

The “+” and “-” signs to the left of the dialog box can be used to expand or collapse the selected object. By using the expand option, you can view more information about the type of link that connects the starting object and the object selected in this window:
