Discovery is the second step in the Package action. Users of older versions of CAST will be familiar with the concept of Discovery, but for newcomers it can be described as follows:

Discovery is a process whereby the CAST Delivery Manager Tool will attempt to automatically identify projects (for example: an Eclipse Java project, or an SQL database) within your Source Package using a set of predefined rules. When the Package action is complete, you can view the projects that have been identified in the Package Content tab (in the List of projects that will be analyzed section).

DMT - Local DMT workspace

Local DMT workspace

When working with an Application in the CAST Delivery Manager Tool in CAST AIC Portal mode, the Application’s configuration files are stored in the local workspace used by the CAST Delivery Manager Tool.

This workspace stores all configuration files, logs and extracted source code (following the use of the Package action). Until you use the Deliver action, the changes (i.e. the addition of a new version or the addition of a new source code package) remain local to the CAST Delivery Tool Manager workspace and will be lost unless you use the Save action.

DMT - Naming constraints

Naming constraints

All items that can be created and then named within the CAST Delivery Manager Tool have some limits with regard to the characters and length that can be used. Items include:

Versions

Packages

Characters

The field Name is restricted to the following characters:

01234567890

abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz

ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ

.!ù^é~#´{[è_çà@]=}+-°$£¾%§ñõìùòîôûê€

Length

The field Name is restricted to a length of 63 characters.

In the CAST Delivery Manager Tool, a Version can be in various different “states”. The status is displayed in the Version page:

Each status is explained below:

Not delivered

The Version is "open" and can be edited by anyone.

Not delivered (partial delivery)

The Version remains "open" - i.e.:

packages exist

the Package action has been run on the Packages or the Version

the Deliver action has been run but the Version has not been Closed.

Note that this status is visible when working in CAST Management Studio mode. It occurs when an Application and Version have been created and the Deliver action has not been run.

Note that a Version that is rejected by the CAST AI Administrator will also have this status.
