Add a new source code package

Note that the Adding a new source code package is relevant regardless of which mode you are working in.

To add a new source code package:

In the Version page, click the button to add a new Source Code Package to your Version.
The Add Package wizard will then be displayed - this guides you through the package creation process:
First choose the type of source code you want to package and click the Next button.

Note that the Adding a new Version is only relevant if you are working with the DMT directly from the CAST AIC Portal - if you are working with the DMT directly from the CAST Management Studio, then Versions are created in the CAST Management Studio.

When an Application is created in the CAST AIC Portal by your Application team manager or Executive Sponsor, an initial Version is also created. If you need to deliver a new version of an existing Application, then you need to add a new Version:

The notion of “closing a version” is found in the CAST Delivery Tool Manager regardless of which mode is in use, however, using and accessing the option differs according to the mode in use.

What does the action do?

The Close action will flag a version as “closed” i.e. “done” - this has the following effects:

Note that the Deliver option is found in the CAST Delivery Tool Manager regardless of which mode is in use, however, using and accessing the option differs according to the mode in use.

Deliver is an action that will transfer the contents of the local workspace (Versions and Packages) into the CAST AIC Portal (i.e. the Source Code Delivery Folder) - in other words an “upload” action. This action should only be run once you have used the Package action to package all the source code packages successfully and you have used the Package Content tab to examine your packages and ensure that the projects you require are indeed marked as “Selected”.

Encrypting the password for the DMT command line

When using the CAST Delivery Manager Tool (DMT) via the command line, a username and password must be configured in the command line in the following situations:

At all times, via the AUTH variable to configure the CAST AIC Portal credentials
Optionally, via the PXAUTH variable to configure access to the CAST AIC Portal when a web proxy server is present in the local environment.

DMT - Package

Package

The Package option is found in the CAST Delivery Tool Manager regardless of which mode is in use.

Package is an action that will start a multi-step process to package the source code using the configuration settings you have defined in the Package Configuration tab. The end result of a successful Package action will be a source code package or packages that can be delivered to the CAST AI Administrator (if working via the CAST AIC Portal). These packages will then be subject to a source code analysis run from the CAST Management Studio.

Note that the Refresh option is only visible if you are working with the DMT directly from the CAST AIC Portal - See CAST Delivery Manager Tool modes. Refresh is not required when working with the DMT via the CAST Management Studio because the information is taken directly from the Source Code Delivery Folder.

The Refresh action will transfer the contents of the CAST AIC Portal (i.e. the Source Code Delivery Folder) into the local CAST Delivery Manager Tool workspace - in other words a “download” action. This action will therefore “refresh” the contents of the CAST Delivery Manager Tool to ensure that you are working with the most up-to-date information.

DMT - Save

Save

The Save option allows you to save the current state of the CAST Delivery Manager Tool to your local workspace on disk. You can access the option as follows:

Using the button located on the toolbar
When you quit the CAST Delivery Manager Tool you will be prompted to Save

Regardless of the mode you are working in, all items and configuration files are stored in memory until you use the Save action. Using the Save action will ensure that any items you have created during your session will be available the next time you run the CAST Delivery Manager Tool.

In certain sections of the CAST Delivery Manager Tool, you can use Regular Expressions to filter, exclude and ignore certain items.

Using the DMT Command Line

The CAST Delivery Manager Tool (DMT) is provided with a Command Line utility that can be used in various scenarios. Before you can use the Command Line utility, there are various prerequisites.

Prerequisites

All Delivery Managers must be working in CAST AIC Portal mode. If you are working with the CAST Delivery Manager Tool launched directly from the CAST Management Studio, you should use the CAST Management Studio command line instead.
All Delivery Managers must have already Delivered and Closed one Version (including packages) using the CAST Delivery Manager Tool GUI interface and have that Application and Version in their local copy of the DMT - this is because the aim of the command line options is to automate the delivery of a Version “n+1” and all its Packages - i.e. you can automate this process via the command line when your source code has changed and you do not need to add additional packages, however, the Version “n” must exist already.
