Introduction

In addition to the Enhancement Function Points (EFP) measure, CAST AIP supports the new OMG Automated Enhancement Points (AEP) specification to estimate the size of an application revision.

After an initial baseline count, CAST AIP catalogs and stores both Data Functions and Transactional Functions structure in the CAST Analysis Service schema. All objects that are part of the Data and Transactional Functions are stored in the Analysis Service along with a checksum that uniquely identifies the current version of each artifact. When a new version of the application source code is analyzed using CAST AIP, the CAST Automated Enhancement Points algorithm uses the computed checksum of each object composing both Data Functions and Transactional Functions to determine:

Introduction

CAST Enhancement Function Points Estimation technology is an automatic function points counting method based on the rules defined by the OMG. This automatic process is described in detail in CAST OMG-compliant Automated Function Points. After an initial baseline count, CAST AIP catalogs and stores both Data Functions and Transactional Functions structure in the CAST Application Intelligence Knowledge base. All artifacts that are part of the Data and Transactional Functions are stored into the database along with a checksum that enables uniquely identify the current version of each artifact.

ISO declaration of conformance

CAST AIP conforms with the following ISO (International Organization for Standardization) standard: ISO/IEC 19515:2019.

CAST management hereby formally states that the Application Intelligence Platform (AIP) versions 8.3 and above are conformant to the formal specification for Automated Function Points (AFP) as expressed by the ISO/IEC 19515:2019 standards documentation. CAST AIP also supports and fully implements the Object Management Group’s (OMG) AFP Standard 1.0, document number formal/2014-01-03.

CAST is committed to continuing support for automated function point counting standards produced by OMG and ISO. CAST is already implementing the coming Automated Enhancement Function Points (AEFP) and Automated Enhancement Technical Points (AETP) standards, being worked by the Consortium for Information and Software Quality (CISQ) and the OMG.
