Principles

CAST Management Studio can import, display, edit and assign Assessment Models from / to Dashboard Services
- Dashboard Service “import” lets you get hold of any pre-existing adapted Assessment Model
- Dashboard Service “assign” lets you drive the Assessment Model to use in 1 to X Dashboard Services
- Generic “import” lets you upload in your CAST Management Studio an Assessment Model from another implementation
- Generic “export” lets you download from your CAST Management Studio an Assessment Model for backup and distribution purposes
working copies of the Assessment Models are still present in the Dashboard and Analysis Services
- to support autonomous processing without being permanently connected to the Management Service
New Assessment Models can be created from scratch based on the default Assessment Model delivered with AIP Core

WARNING: If you update the Assessment Model any customizations you may have made will be lost. To avoid this, make sure you export the Assessment Model from the CAST Management Studio using the Export Configuration option available via the File > Export File menu option.

Changing rule parameters

Although CAST presents a large range of quantity and quality metrics that provide very satisfactory results, you can modify some of the parameters in the individual Quality Rule or Metrics to meet your current development environment or architecture requirements. Some hints about quality indicators that are worth checking are listed below:

Default selection of quality rules with the “critical contribution” option set is available in the release notes. Please note that a migrated installation will not automatically benefit from this default selection: you HAVE to perform the selection.

Building your own Assessment Model using CAST Management Studio

Introduction

Each release of CAST AIP provides a default Assessment Model which contains the standard set of Quality Rules and measures that are used to measure and qualify your Applications. This Assessment Model can be viewed in the CAST Management Studio > Assessment Models view - see image below (click to enlarge). While this default Assessment Model is satisfactory for most use cases, it is possible to customize it to your own requirements.
