Introduction

The Reference Finder feature enables you to define one or multiple rules at Application level to search for links (i.e. aword, series of wordsorstring(based on Regular Expressions)) between Source and Target code when an analysis is run. The Reference Finder is an extension of the Dependencies feature managed in the Application - Config - Analysis panel: in the Dependencies feature, references are traced using search strings which is less selective than parser based technology used for other links traced by the analyzer. This technology detects a reference to an object wherever its name is mentioned, regardless of the context in which this reference occurs. As a result, incorrect links may be traced if a string happens to match a given name even if it is not logically related to the corresponding object. As a result you may have to intervene to filter incorrect references. Refer to the Application - Config - Summary of Dynamic Links for more details on how to ignore these ambiguous links.

Introduction

When an analysis is run the authenticity of some links that have been identified between objects cannot be absolutely determined by CAST - these links are known as “dynamic links”. Often these “unverified links” systematically occur or have no meaning for the specific technology you are working with. This screen displays:

a summary of the dynamic links detected in the most recent analysis
detailed information about each link
the ability to manually review (see below) each unverified link to state whether the link is correct or false

Reviewing Dynamic Links forms an important part of the analysis validation process and is explained in more detail in Validate Dynamic Links.

Introduction

When an analysis is run, the authenticity of some links that have been identified between objects cannot be absolutely determined by CAST - these links are known as “dynamic links”. Often these “unverified links” systematically occur or have no meaning for the specific technology you are working with. To counter this, filter rules (DLM.XML files) can be configured to either validate (i.e. retain) or ignore (delete) these recurring dynamic links automatically when an analysis is run.

Introduction

When analyzing an Application that includes Maven based****source code, you must tell Console where to find the Maven local or remote HTTP/S repository. The location of the repository is crucial to ensure that any associated JAR files can be automatically discovered and that POM dependencies can also be located.
