Generating application discovery / executive reports

Overview

Are you looking for a top-level report about your application? Something that you can provide to clients, other interested parties or executives but does not provide in-depth technical details…? Look no further than either of these reports:

  • Application discovery report
  • Application executive summary
    Available in ≥ 3.6.0-funcrel

Both reports are:

  • one-click generation
  • provided in Microsoft Word format to share easily
  • downloaded automatically to your machine

Are there any requirements?

The Application executive summary report generates some of its content via AI and therefor requires an AI provider API key (see AI Settings) before it will become available for use.

What does the report contain?

The reports provide basic top-level information about your application, for example:

  • Application summary:
    • Number of Lines of Code
    • Number of objects
    • Number of relationships
  • Programming Languages: an overview of the programming languages detected in the uploaded source code, including the number of files, total lines of code (LOC), and file sizes per language. The figures are based on the uploaded source code in CAST Imaging, including languages that were not analyzed.
  • Architecture:
    • technologies used in your application
    • concepts
  • Database:
    • data access/database interactions, including a table providing a summary of database objects (tables, procedures, functions, views, etc.) used by the application without needing to navigate through detailed views.
    • database storage information
  • Module composition
  • Project structure
  • Services
  • Third-party components, including Impacte Objects Count: represents the number of application objects referencing or using the third-party component, allowing for quick assessment of third-party dependencies without navigating to other views.
  • API Inventory
  • Actionable Insights: actionable findings across Performance, Security, Green IT, and Cloud Maturity. Each subsection highlights the top 5 critical issues, focusing on areas with the highest impact on performance, security, maintainability, and cloud readiness.

How do I generate the reports?

Select the items you want to see in the report - all available items will be auto-selected by default, and any that are not available in the current application will be unavailable for selection:

The report is generated and downloaded to your machine automatically.
