Description

 During installation of CAST AIP Components on a supported workstation as an administrator, the following error is encountered during the Microsoft Build Tools step as shown in the screenshot below:

Step by Step Scenario

Below is the step-by-step scenario leading to the problem:

  1. Install CAST AIP Components on Windows as per the documentation .
Impact of the Problem

The impact of the problem on the analysis or the dashboard is:

  • Installation is not completed so that no further actions can be done
Action Plan

Based on the investigation of this issue, it was likely due to one of these reasons:

  • A failed .NET framework installation
  • An issue with the windows registry indicating the required .NET framework was already installed on the system when it was not installed.
    Normally, the CAST AIP Components installation will install the .NET framework required.

To fix the problem, proceed as follows:

  1. Manually install Microsoft Build Tools
    1. This may also require an installation of .NET framework
