Step by Step Scenario

Below is the step-by-step scenario leading to the problem:

  1. Open the Application Analytics Dashboard and login.
  2. When the tiles are displayed, go to any of the tile which displays Critical Violation count, Violation Count, etc and open the details.
  3. On the top-right corner (on the left side of UserName), there is a button of Microscope. Click on that. As shown below:
  4. The message will be displayed, as shown in the first screenshot shown above under description.
Impact of the Problem

The impact of the problem on the analysis or the dashboard is: The user will not be able to navigate to the CED to investigate the values by drilling down into the details.

Action Plan

Please refer to the documentation of HD which explains the purpose of navigating to CED from HD.

One possibility of the error message to appear has been explained in the documentation links above.

But there is another possibility and that is:

1. There was a Central base which was consolidated with the measurement base along with other central bases.
2. But this central base's name was renamed to something else.
3. This new name was not updated in the measurement base and the measurement base was still referring to the old name of the CB.

Thus, due to the above steps the HD was not able to find the central base and thus was not able to navigate to CED.

To fix the problem, please proceed as below:

  1. HD works on the basis of a measurement schema, and it is possible to consolidate multiple central schemas to a single measurement schema.
  2. When this happens, there is a list of sites that are registered inside the measurement schema and these sites contain the names & site ID of central schemas.
  3. The names of consolidated central schemas and their site ID's can be checked by using the Site Management tool of HD (HDSite-GUI.exe) which is placed in "<installation_dir>\CAST\<Version>\HD\GUI.
  4. Open it and perform the following configuration:
  5. It will provide the list of centrals and their site ID's.
  6. Now check if the name of the Central schema of the application for which the error message is coming, is also same in the database server in which it exists.
  7. If there is some change in the name, then an update of URL is required which can be done through the same Site Management tool of HD.
  8. Configure the Central name and URL of CED in the tool as shown below (according to the details that you have for your schemas):
  9. After performing these changes, reload the HD or restart the tomcat service.
  10. And now, try to navigate to CED with the same option from HD. It will display a different message as shown below:

Impact of the solution on the analysis or the dashboard is: The user will be able to navigate to CED from HD and drilldown into the detailed information on CED.
