Action Plan

Action plan to investigate this issue is same as mentioned the page "CAST Engineering Dashboard - Report Builder - Generate PDF report - Missing data in report - Empty PDF report " with one additional check as mentioned below.

Such issue may be related with out of memory error :

java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space
at java.lang.AbstractStringBuilder.expandCapacity(AbstractStringBuilder.java:99)
at java.lang.AbstractStringBuilder.append(AbstractStringBuilder.java:393)
at java.lang.StringBuffer.append(StringBuffer.java:225)
at com.castsoftware.util.log.Logger.addBuffer(Logger.java:189)
at com.castsoftware.util.log.Logger.logMessage(Logger.java:321)
at com.castsoftware.util.log.Logger.detail(Logger.java:242)
at com.castsoftware.util.sql.DatabaseConnection.detail(DatabaseConnection.java:1570)
at com.castsoftware.util.sql.DatabaseConnection.executeQuery(DatabaseConnection.java:1069)

To cross check the same reproduced the issue as mentioned below:

  1. Import the central site
  2. Update the web.xml file of web server application as described here
  3. Restart application in tomcat
  4. Connect again to the dashbaord
  5. Create and save the report using same section(s) and paramater(s) as customer
  6. Display the generated report.

In the Dashboard SQL log (or tomcat log), search for error

java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space as mentioned above.

If there is such error , then the issue is related with memory and which is because the report is big.  solution is to divide the report into two or more reports.

This workaround is applicable for CAST version 7.0.6 and lower. This issue had been fixed in CAST version 7.0.7, however even if this issue is encountered in 7.0.7 and above use this workaround and report the issue to CAST support for fix
