Problem

There are x LOC for the application but Backfired IFPUG appears to be zero 0. You can find the BFP for instance in the below view.

Step by Step Scenario

1.Analyze & generate snapshot for any application.
2.Launch the dashboard.
3.See that the BFP is zero in all views.

Action Plan

  1. Select the page from the list -

    If your case is different from the above then please follow the below steps.
  2. If your technology is Microsoft T-SQL then this is a known bug that is planned to be fixed in 8.1.5. As a Work around you can apply the solution provided.
  3. For other technologies Check in the assessment model if gearing factor exists for technology . If the gearing factor does not exist and if this is a supported technology then please contact CAST Technical support with relevant Inputs
  4. If the technology is unsupported then please contact your CAST consultant to help you with the value of the gearing factor in order to apply the solution.
  5. If you have added the gearing factor value in assessment model, yet you are getting BFP computed as zero, then please contact CAST Technical support with relevant Input

Check in the assessment model if gearing factor exists for technology

BFP = LOC / gearing factor

There is a value for gearing Factor, specific to each technology which is used to calculate the Backfired IFPUG.

So if this value is not associated in the assessment model then BFP will not be calculated.

Note that these are the technologies for which the gearing factor value is already added by default in the assessment model - CMS Assessment model - Information - Functional weight - Backfired IFPUG Function Point Definition

Solution

If your technology is Microsoft T-SQL then this is a known bug that is planned to be fixed in 8.1.5

The solution is to add the technology filter for "Microsoft T-Sql" with a gearing factor of value 60 in assessment model for Backfired IFPUG to be calculated.
