Preserving information consistency throughout the CAST Engineering Dashboard imposes limitations on Systems, Applications, and Modules organization updates.
Options and constraints
Systems, Applications, and Modules organization handling options are:
- Module grouping into Application
- Application grouping into System
- Systems, Applications, and user-defined Modules can be renamed (requiring an CAST Engineering Dashboard reload to refresh the cached data)
- Names have to be unique
- Especially Module names as they are the mapping key in Background Facts and Business Value Metric upload
- Systems, Applications, and Modules organization can be enriched with new branches and leaves over time
- Systems, Applications, and Modules organization can be severed from branches and leaves over time
- Systems and Applications are "deleted", along with their history
- Modules are only "deprecated" as they still exist in past Application assessment
- As soon as some assessment results are generated, the moving of branches and leaves within the Systems, Applications, and Modules organization over time is not possible (it is still possible up until a Snapshot is computed).
Warning:
- Module node name updates impact Background facts and Business Value import (as it has to map to names)
