This view is designed to deliver enhancement Function Point information about a set of applications (i.e., a System).

  • This view requires access to at least one Application.
  • This view is not accessible unless you have the correct EFP/AFP license from CAST.
  • This view will not contain any information for certain panels if you are using the AEP measure (introduced in CAST AIP 8.2.x and set as the default measure) in the CAST Management Studio to calculate enhancement Function Points - see CAST Automated Enhancement Points Estimation - AEP. Please use the CAST Application Analytics Dashboard instead, where this information is available.

Left hand panel

Please see the section Left hand panel in Using the CAST Engineering Dashboard for more information about this.

Main window panels

Four main panels are available:

Function Points Estimation

Shows an estimation of the Added/Modified/Deleted Automated Function Points for the applications in the selected system. The total value is a combination of the other values. Hyperlinks on the Added/Modified/Deleted Automated Function Points values lead to drill down pages that list the constituent objects and their individual estimated enhancement FP values.

Note that when a data function's type is changed from EIF to ILF or from ILF to EIF, in the CAST Transaction Configuration Center, the data function will be considered as changed. The CAST Engineering Dashboard, will report this change in the current view under the Modified Function Points column.

Note about the Modified Function Point drill down and the "N/A" entry in the Function Point details column:

Generated objects are used to compute the transaction but are not counted for quality and size measures. When generated objects are modified and since they are used in the computation of the transaction, the transaction will be detected as modified by CAST. However, this change is not shown in the CAST Engineering Dashboard because the quality and size of these objects are not directly controlled by the developer. This is why the detail of what is impacting the transaction does not include the list of generated objects and instead displays N/A as shown in the image below:

Effort Estimations

This section displays the following data for each Application in the selected System: estimated effort in man/days required to complete the evolution work, i.e. effort for new code (Added), enhanced code (Modified) and deleted code (Deleted) since the previous snapshot.

The effort data is derived from the values configured in the "Default" Cost Profile - see the section Cost Profiles Administration page in Quick Access.

Added Critical ViolationsDisplays the number of violations (i.e., defects for rules that have been tagged "critical contribution" in the Assessment Model) split per application, and per Health Factor that have been added since the previous snapshot. Hyperlinks lead to the Risk Indicators - Object Level listing the defects.
Health Factors EvolutionsDisplays the Health Factor grade evolution in % for each application (including the SEI Maintainability index). The grade evolution table highlights (with a color-coded value) the evolution since the previous snapshot. Hyperlinks lead to the Investigation - Quality Model Drilldown.
