AFP Calibration node - Right hand panel

The AFP Calibration node displays the number of Data Functions and Transactional Functions and their computed/calibrated Function Points:

Results with Default FP value for empty Transaction Functions option set to ASSESS in Compute settings:

This is displayed immediately after opening the CAST Transaction Configuration Center. Data is automatically fetched from the CAST Analysis Service and displayed when selecting the node:

  • Automated Function Points > The total number of Automated Function Points (the sum total of the two values for Calibrated FP in the Transaction Functions and Data Functions sections).
  • Number of Functions > How many Data Functions/Transactional Functions (i.e. objects) in the parent Application match one of the sets displayed in the Transaction Configuration node.
    • Non-empty Functions > How many of the above Transactional Functions have a computed FP value above 0, along with the percentage of such empty Transactional Functions compared with the above count of Transactional Functions.
    • Empty Functions > How many of the above Transactional Functions have a computed FP value equal to 0, along with the percentage of such empty Transactional Functions compared with the above count of Transactional Functions.
    • Assessed Empty Functions > (Only visible when Default FP value for empty Transaction Functions option is set to ASSESS in Compute settings) How many of the above Transactional Functions have a computed Function Points assessed based on the average of nodes per DET of non-empty transactions.
  • Computed FP > Total number of Function Points that have been computed (i.e. the total number of Function Points in the column Computed FP in the Data Functions/Transactional Functions sub nodes). This number will reflect the number of Function Points (as determined by the Snapshot generation process carried out in the CAST Management Studio) for the Data Functions/Transactional Functions (i.e. objects) in the parent Application that match one of the sets displayed in the Transaction Configuration node.
  • Calibrated FP > This value may be more, less or identical to the Computed FP value. The value is the Computed FP value, plus or minus any manual Function Point changes that have been made in the Data Functions/Transactional Functions sub nodes in the New FP column. See Calibrate for more information about calibrating your results.
    • The value is more: changes have been made in the Data Functions/Transactional Functions sub nodes to add more Function Points
    • The value is less: changes have been made in the Data Functions/Transactional Functions sub nodes to remove Function Points
    • The value is identical: no changes have been made in the Data Functions/Transactional Functions sub nodes, or changes (more or less) cancel each other out.
    • Assessed FP > (Only visible when Default FP value for empty Transaction Functions option is set to ASSESS in Compute settings) Number of  Function Points based on the average of nodes per DET of non-empty transactions.
    • Average Nb of objects per DET > (Only visible when Default FP value for empty Transaction Functions option is set to ASSESS in Compute settings) Average number of objects per DET

Note that:

- Function Points for any objects you mark as Deleted (during calibration) are not included in the Number of computed function points - Objects that match sets defined in the End Point nodes are not included in the Results. See Data Entities, End points, Entry points nodes, Excluded Items - Browser for more information.

Alternative display

If a Default FP value was defined for Empty Transactional Functions in the latest Function Point computation (see Compute), the following will appear in the Transactional Functions section:

  • Calculated FP > Total number of Function Points that have been calculated, along with the percentage of such calculated Function Points compared with the Calibrated FP value.
  • Default FP > Total number of Function Points that have a Default FP value along with the percentage of such Function Points compared with the Calibrated FP value. Where a default FP value has been computed for a Transactional Function which also contains also a Custom FP value introduced by the user (which will override the default FP value), then its default FP value will not be considered for this figure.
