Using the Display Configurator

Active Rules section

This section of the dialog box displays all the rules that are currently in operation in the application. Those that are selected (checked) are the rules that are applied to the Graphical View you currently have open. Thus, if you created a rule specifically for another Graphical View (that is not currently open), then the rule will be blank (unselected).

You can however select unchecked rules and apply them to your current Graphical View.

Used by model section

This read only section at the bottom of the dialog box displays which Graphical Views are affected by the model selected in the upper Active Rules section.

If you want to apply the same rule to another Graphical View:

  1. Close the Display Configurator,
  2. Open the Graphical View you require
  3. Re-launch the Display Configurator
  4. Select the rule you require in the Active Rules section, select it, then click OK.
Creating a New Rule
  1. First click the New button located in the top right hand corner. This will create a new entry in the uppermost list. Enter a name for the rule as you require.
  2. Next move down to the three columns section. This is where you can select which links (between certain objects) will NOT be displayed in your Graphical View.
  3. In the first column on the left, search for the type of object. Select those that you require. Selecting a parent object will cause all of its sub types to also be selected.
  4. In the middle column select the objects that you require. Any links between objects selected in the first column and this middle column will be ignored.
  5. Finally, in the third column, select the TYPE of links, (i.e.: Static Call, Static Mention etc...) you want to ignore.
  6. You can also select the By default, this rule is applied to all models option at the bottom of the dialog box. This means that the rule you have just created will be valid for any other views you create.
  7. Click OK to save the rule and close the dialog box. The rule will now be applied to your current Graphical View.
  8. Next time you open the Display Configurator when working in the same Graphical View (i.e. if you save it), the name of your view will appear in the Used by Model section at the bottom of the dialog box.
