Opening New Views and Sub Views

This application enables you to open several Graphical Views simultaneously, each displaying different objects and components. There are various ways to achieve this:

Opening a New Graphical View with the same connection parameters

To open a new Graphical View (a new physical window and specific Object Browser window) using the same Knowledge Base connection parameters as you are currently connected with:
  1. Select the File > New option from the menu bar.
  2. Now select the New Graphical View... option from the sub-menu.

The Initial Scope Selection Wizard will then launch (enabling you to select the analyses you want to work with). Once the Graphical View has been launched, you can work as you would with any other Graphical View.

To switch between the Graphical View established when you launched the application and the Graphical View you have just created:

  1. Click Window on the menu bar and select the Graphical View you require.

Notes

  • When you switch between Graphical Views, the contents of the Object Browser window will also change according to the analyses you have chosen to work with in each Graphical View.
  • You can also use the button or the shortcut key CTRL+N to open a new view.

Opening a New Graphical View with new connection parameters

Opening a new Graphical View (new physical window and specific Object Browser window) using a different Knowledge Base connection (in addition to your existing connection) is exactly the same as described above.

You must, however ensure that you have already established a new connection to an additional Knowledge Base.

  1. Using any of the options described above will launch the Existing Connections dialog box, before the Initial Scope Selection dialog box.
  2. Choose the connection you want to use.
  3. Proceed as described above.

Notes

  • You can switch between Graphical Views using the method described in the first section.
  • When switching between Graphical Views using different server connections, a small delay may result while the relevant Object Browser window is loaded.

Opening a Sub Graphical View

Sub Graphical Views are essentially the same as New Views, except that they are created using the same Object Browser window (and constituent analyses) as the parent Graphical View (the Graphical View that is active when you use this option).

To create a Sub View:

  1. Select the File > New option from the menu bar.
  2. Now select the Sub Graphical View option from the sub-menu.

A Sub Graphical View (which will behave in the same way as any other Graphical View), will then be launched.

Notes

  • You can switch between Graphical Views using the method described in the first section.
  • You can also use the shortcut key CTRL+W to achieve the same result.
