Summary: This section describes the upgrade process for an Application and its corresponding schemas to a new release of AIP Core. This process must be repeated for each Application you want to upgrade to a new release of AIP Core.

There are various methods available for completing an Application and schema upgrade:

AIP Console (available in ≥ 1.24)
  • Simple one click upgrade for any Application managed in AIP Console
  • Only one tool is required 
  • All required actions (backup, schema upgrade, delivery folder upgrade, Assessment Model choices, AIP Console re-sync) are handled
Functionality exists only when upgrading to AIP Core ≥ 8.3.8. To upgrade to older AIP Core releases, please use an alternative method.
CAST Server Manager GUI or CLI on each AIP Node (legacy method)
  • Must be actioned from the AIP Node which manages the Application
  • Multiple actions using different tools are required (locate the schemas on the CAST Storage Service instance, remote access required to each AIP Node, AIP Console must be manually re-synced) 
Functionality exists for all combinations of AIP Core source and target releases.
Pre-configured set of batch scripts that leverage the CAST Server Manager CLI
  • Useful if you need to perform multiple Application/schema upgrades automatically
  • Completes the upgrade silently
